Yew Lodge Country House Wedding 1

Yew Lodge Country House Wedding

Wedding photography at Yew Lodge Country House

I'm finally at the end of Kirby-Anne & James' epic wedding at Yew Lodge Country House in Surrey. A 22 hour epic wedding day for us! Buzzing & totally wiped out in equal measure but I'm really sad it's at an end. Here are two teasers photo's of them; one outside at Yew Tree Country House with the bride and groom in the frosty evening air and a crazy bridesmaid riding a wedding guest!

Photographing a wedding at the Roman Baths in Bath, Somerset

Wedding at the Roman Baths (Pump Rooms)

Evening wedding at the Roman Baths

A little teaser photograph this afternoon from Emma & Nathan's brilliant evening wedding at the Romans Baths (Pump Rooms) in Bath, Somerset. The amazing world heritage site of the Roman Baths was the setting for their beautiful wedding ceremony, and where did they head off on the honeymoon? You've guessed it, Rome! Here they are enjoying a moment overlooking the exposed Roman hypocaust, shortly after getting married by the Great Bath. I'm delighted to find that this photograph has also just been selected as a Fearless Photographers photo of the day! You can check it out here in Instagram or on the Fearless Photographers site here. It was a slightly chilly evening wedding and as the Roman Baths are effectively outside, there was steam rising from the water of the main bath. As I live near Bath I popped in and took a look around the pump rooms before their wedding day and spotted these other amazing locations for photographs. The hypocaust really stood out and I wanted to place them in the scene, but of course you can't just walk in and wander around the exhibit! I spotted a viewing window which I thought I could place them in for the photograph and then worked out where I needed to be to capture it.

Autumn Wedding at Orchardleigh House

Autumn at Orchardleigh - Wedding Photography

I joined Krissy & James for their gorgeous Autumn wedding at Orchardleigh House in Somerset yesterday - here's a teaser photo from their daytime photo shoot with me. The house itself is a really stunning setting, but parts the amazing Orchardleigh estate grounds are often overlooked as they are just so vast. I live locally and so Claire and I arrived early for a look around before starting photographing and I spotted quite a dark wooded area which was accessible only by crashing our way through some quite thick undergrowth. A rotten old log had fallen in the middle of the clearing and I fell in love with it immediately. After they were married on Orchardleigh's little island Church, we made our way back to the spot and I was delighted that they both managed to make their way inside the woods and snuggle up on that old tree.

Getting away from the main wedding party for these creative portrait photographs can be a really intimate and calm time during what is often a busy and fun filled day, and I can really see and connect with their closeness in this photo. I can't wait to share their complete collection of photographs with them both!

3 Years later - Wedding Anniversary at Folly Farm, Pensford

Three years ago today I spent a wedding day at Folly Farm Centre with these two and their wonderful friends and family, as they tied the knot in the Somerset countryside. Here's a little 2016 rework of them together by the wildlife pond, overlooking the Chew Valley. Congratulations Kelly & Mark!

Summer's Day Photography |  Iscoyd Park Wedding

Tonight I'm working on these gorgeous, romantic photo's from Catrin & Charles' Iscoyd Park wedding. There is this amazing dreamy lake in the grounds of Iscoyd Park (and the grounds are just idyllic by the way), surrounded by trees. By the side of the lake we found a little rowing boat which had been pulled up on to the bank just out of the water and on their wedding day the sun was streaming through he trees on to the water. It really was like a scene from a film. In almost complete contradiction to the first teaser wedding photograph from Iscoyd which I posted of them both standing under the stars and milky way late in the evening, this photo was captured in the late afternoon, just before they sat down with their guests for their wedding breakfast. It's always great if I'm able to work on the bride and groom's creative portrait photos in both daylight and at night time, as there is such a dynamic shift in contrast, colour and atmosphere. I just love this photograph of the two of them - it's probably one of the only times a couple can just kick their shoes off, thrown their jacket across the bow and totally just chill out with each other. I can't wait to share the rest of their amazing wedding day photographs with them both!

Night Time Photography during a wedding  at The Bishop's Palace

This was my very last photograph of the day (well, actually from the night) at Hannah & James's wedding at the Bishop's Palace in Wells on Saturday. It was the wettest wedding I've encountered for years, but with a little help from my assistant and the awesome staff at the Bishop's Palace, I managed to capture the moments I was after! This wedding was particularly memorable for me as there was a Duck Race - you'll have to wait for their highlights to see the hilarious little yellow ducks zooming down the stream at the Bishop's Palace... in the pouring rain! It really was immense fun.

Summertime wedding at Stanton Manor near Chippenham in Wiltshire

Countryside wedding at Stanton Manor

Photography in the fields during a wedding at Stanton Manor

A little moment in the fields with the bride and groom during their wedding at Stanton Manor in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. During a wedding day I normally take the couple for creative portrait photographs during the day and sometimes then again in the evening when the light changes dramatically. This photo was actually taken at 8:15 at night! The evening summer light was kind to us and although the sun was setting over Stanton Manor, there was still enough light to give a gentle warm glow on their skin. There are some really fantastic opportunities for wedding photos at Stanton Manor with its gorgeous countryside charm, but none better than just kicking back in the long grass and watching the sun go down.

Bride and groom with the Milky Way and Stars Wedding Photo

Wedding love under the stars at Iscoyd Park

Last weekend I photographed Catrin & Charles's beautiful Iscoyd Park Wedding in Shropshire. Iscoyd is an amazing venue and this was the first time I'd photographed a wedding there - I was thrilled that it was with such an amazing fun couple. Late into the evening the sky slowly cleared and I could make out the Milky Way! It was just screaming at me to photograph them both under this amazing blanket of stars, as it was so perfectly dark in the countryside. Whilst I was running through my test photos I saw (and photographed) the International Space Station crossing right over me, as well as a huge shooting star. This was the first time that Claire, my Second Photographer, had ever seen either so it all added to how special the day was for us.

Summer Wedding at Folly Farm Centre - last of the evening sunlight

The rain clouds blew away at the end of Pip & David's beautiful countryside wedding at the Folly Farm Centre on Saturday, and the last of the afternoon sun shone through the trees of the nature reserve which surrounds the Farm. It was just too good to miss!

Centurion Hotel Wedding in Radstock Wedding Photography

Centurion Hotel Wedding in Radstock

I enjoyed a fabulous time on Saturday with the awesome Caron & Shaun at their Centurion Hotel wedding in Radstock. They were married in a beautiful ceremony at St. John the Baptist Church in Chilcompton before jumping in to their vintage Bentley and heading for their wedding reception at the Centurion Hotel. When it came to their creative portraits Caron had spotted a hollowed out area inside a big group of fir trees on a previous visit, which she liked the idea of using for their Bride and Groom creative portrait photo shoot. I thought it had potential and after a quick walk around the trees I noticed a small gap in the branches through which I could just about see them. With great humour and a sense of adventure they both managed to squeeze in to the spot, along with Reece my 'assistant for an hour' who did an amazing job helping me out with the lighting #madewithmagmod Congratulations Mr & Mrs P!
